Wayzata Country Club has an excellent caddie program. The committee’s emphasis is on training and providing enough caddies so
that our members can have one whenever they want. You are encouraged to use a caddie whenever possible. Benefits of taking a caddie:
- Reduction of wear and tear on the golf course.
- You get more exercise!
- You have someone to clean clubs, provide yardage and replace your divots.
- You get to enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played… by walking.
Reserving a caddie: Reserving a caddie should take place when you request your tee time. If you use a starting time request form, please mark the appropriate spot on the card denoting a caddie is needed. If you call the starter for a tee time, please let him know if you would like a caddie. Advance notice gives our Caddie Master ample time to reserve caddies. If you have not requested a caddie, feel free to do so when you arrive to golf and our staff will make every effort to accommodate your request.
Cancellation: Please try to avoid signing up for a caddie and not showing up or changing your mind to use a cart. Caddies are assigned 30-60 minutes ahead of time. Failure to show up or switching to a cart might make it difficult to reassign a caddie. If you fail to show up and a caddie cannot be reassigned, you will be billed for a caddie fee.
Mentor Program: We are asking members who want to help the program to volunteer as a mentor. As a mentor you will be asked to take one of our beginner caddies and help with his/her training. The mentor sign-up will be in the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
Caddie Ratings and Expectations:
Class “B” Class “B” caddies are beginners, usually ages 11-14. We expect them to keep up with the players, keep clubs and golf balls clean, replace divots, watch the ball in flight, rake bunkers and attend the flagstick. “B” caddies may only carry one bag.
Class “A” Class “A” caddies are expected to be able to perform all caddie duties and have some working knowledge of the golf course. In addition, they should be able to provide yardage from 200 yards and closer. “A” caddies may carry two bags.
Honor Honor caddies are expected to perform all caddie duties at the highest level. These caddies have more detailed course knowledge and can assist a player by reading the greens.
Please grade caddies according to the their level. Please be patient, understanding and helpful to our beginner caddies. Time and added training will make our young caddies more experienced.
